Girl Boss Tips For Starting A Business
You want to start a business or a side hustle, but are not sure where to start? I'm here to help you, babe. Today I'm sharing my best tips, tools, and resources for young entrepreneurs and go-getters - just like you!
Yes, it's really that simple. Google it. YouTube it. Rent books from your local library. Talk to people who are in similar industries. Talk to people who inspire you. We live in a world where information is just a search away. There is no excuse for "I don't know how" or "I don't know where to start". You can simply start by googling your question.
Being resourceful is one of the best tools in life and in your business. When I decided it was time to launch a website I literally had $67.00 in my bank account and no website design skills. I talked to several different marketing agencies and graphic designers. The costs they gave me were from $5,000 - $10,000. That was simply not an option for me. I kept calling and asking around until finally, I found someone who was willing to help me out. I hired a graphic designer to build me an aesthetically pleasing, user-friendly website. She did a beautiful job at an affordable cost. She even let me pay her off in monthly payments. I got that deal because I did my research and I was resourceful. There are so many easy to use platforms to create your own stunning website. Here are my favorites.
Get A Mentor.
There are so many FREE business mentors that can give you priceless advice and guidance. I got an awesome mentor through the SBA (Small Business Administration) to help me with all the legal paperwork and get started. Here are a few resources that have really helped me out:
Stay Positive and Creative.
You start to become who you surround yourself with. Spend more time with like-minded people who inspire you to do better and be better. Cut out the negativity in your life and focus more on the positive. Keep a journal and write down your thoughts and things that bother you - start to fix them and find solutions. I love journaling and writing down my thoughts. One of my favorite "writing strands" book is http://www.moorea-seal.com/p/52-lists.html it's a fun way to keep my creative juices flowing! Whenever I'm feeling extra burnt out or feel like I'm not doing enough that's when I know it's time to PRAY. Seriously babe give it to God he will fix the situation and give you all the right answers!
Community and Support.
Having support is so important when starting a business. Ignore the people saying you can't and surround yourself with people who believe in you - even when you might not believe in yourself. My parents have been there for me when I needed them the most. Whether I was crying about a boy or stressed about my business - they have been there. Find people who will love and support you no matter what!
I think reading and listening to podcasts is such a great way to learn so much and stay inspired. The best part about it - it's FREE. I listen to educational podcasts when I drive and read a chapter of a book before I go to bed. Here I listed my favorite podcasts and books!
